Popkomm is delighted to introduce four of Ireland’s hottest new acts at the Music From Ireland showcase on Wednesday 8th September at Silverwings Club, Tempelhof. Even more thrilling is that this daytime showcase and reception will be the launching event of Popkomm’s live music festival 2010. We can’t think of a more exciting way to kick things off. With acts like Dark Room Notes, The Cast Of Cheers, And So I Watch You From Afar, and Yes Cadets, we think that Irish representation can’t possibly be any better than this at any venue in any city in the world this year.

Music from Ireland is a cross industry and arts collective spearheaded by FMC (the people who bring you Hard Working Class Heroes)  and funded by The Arts Council, Culture Ireland, IMRO and Livewire Business Management . The  aim of music from  Ireland is to promote Irish talent at International music showcases and conventions and to provide artists with the support to put their best foot forward in each territory.

Music From Ireland is a cross industry & arts collective which was formed in 2005. The primary goal of the collective is to present a ‘united front’ by the Irish Music Industry at the major music conferences around the world.

Irish music & artists have been at the forefront of music creativity with artists as diverse as U2, Van Morrison, Sinéad O’ Connor, Clannad, Roty Gallagher, Westlife, The Cranberries, Paul Brady & Thin Lizzy having a major impact on music makers and fans alike around the globe over the years.

A whole new breed of emerging Irish acts are currently leading the way for a whole new generation of music lovers. Breakthrough artists such as Damien Rice, The Thrills, Snow Patrol, Gemma Hayes, The Frames & BellX1 have firmly put the spotlight on Ireland once again as the source of some of the best International newcomers. New music for a new generation.

The Music from Ireland initiative will act as an important barometer for those wishing to find out more about some of the hottest emerging acts from Ireland.
